For April’s picture of the month, I chose a pre-dawn picture taken at Milwaukee’s lakefront.
Normally, I focus on the Calatrava-designed addition to the Milwaukee Art Museum, which features the Burke Bries Soleil.
For this picture, however, I chose the Art Museum’s War Memorial as the foreground subject. The War Memorial was built in 1957, and was designed by another famous architect – Eero Saarinen. It is described as a floating cross, with wings cantilevered from a central base.
Although over 50 years old, the War Memorial still has a modernistic look and remains an impressive building perched along the lakefront. This picture was exposed for 1/6 second at f/11 (ISO 200), and was taken just before sunrise.
