Nicolet High School’s 8th annual Knight on the Town charity event is being held tonight, at Cardinal Stritch University in Glendale, Wisconsin. The event raises funds for the Nicolet High School Foundation, which supports the school in promoting innovation through education.

Mt. Watkins at Mirror Lake

I mention the event, because one of my prints will be auctioned off at the event.  The print, Mt. Watkins at Mirror Lake, is from a trip we made last year in March.  This was taken by Mirror Lake in Yosemite National Park.  Calling it a lake is somewhat of a misnomer, since there’s only water present during the spring and early summer as the snow melts and the water collects here.  The area is very secluded, which protects the lake from wind, creating the mirror-like surface of the water.  The seclusion also makes the shadows difficult to capture with a lot of tonal variance between the snow on the mountain and the deep greens of the evergreens.  What makes this picture work is the reflection of the mountain in the lake, and the reflection of the deep blue sky.
